Nutrition and Metabolism Research Labs
The Nutrition and Metabolism Research Labs are interconnected research spaces designed to support high-quality and efficient studies. This 3,691 sq ft Biological Safety Level 2 facility allows researchers and participants to complete multiple parts of a study in one location, including sample collection, processing, analysis, and storage. These master designed and newly constructed labs feature state-of-the-art instruments, including two UPLC systems, a UPLC tandem quadrupole mass spectrometer, microplate readers, a differential scanning calorimeter, UV-vis spectrophotometers, homogenizers, fume hoods, biological safety cabinets, freezers, refrigerators, and other essential laboratory instruments. The facility also includes clinical areas for body composition assessment, metabolic rate measurement, phlebotomy, and biological sample transfer; community areas for focus groups, feeding studies, nutrition education, and group interventions; and two bench laboratories for analyzing bioactive compounds in foods and biological samples.
